CLARKSTON, Wash. – Asotin County Fire District One and other fire crews from across the valley put out a house fire in late Saturday morning with the home receiving extensive damage.

On March 23 around 11 a.m., fire crews from Asotin County Fire District One, City of Clarkston Fire, City of Lewiston Fire and City of Asotin Fire were all dispatched to a home in the 1900 block of Golfview Drive.

Smoke was coming from the house when fire crews arrived. There were three people at the home when the fire started but were able to get out with no injuries.

Asotin County Fire Chief Noel Hardin said “General access was an issue with this fire because of a long narrow driveway and they could only get one engine close to the home.”

The fire started in a bedroom in the daylight basement. Chief Hardin said “The basement received extensive smoke, heat and water damage. The main floor of the home received primarily smoke damage.”

Firefighters had the fire under control within about 20 minutes and remained on the scene for about two hours checking for hot spots.

There were no reported injuries in this fire and the cause remains under investigation.
