Idaho State Board of Education greenlights new degree programs, including gerontology

BOISE, Idaho—The Idaho State Board of Education has approved the introduction of three new degree programs, including a Master of Science in Gerontology, which is dedicated to studying old age.

The Idaho State Board of Education has approved introduction of three new degree programs and the establishment of Idaho’s second healthcare-focused school in Moscow. Among these offerings is the Online Master of Science in Gerontology, which is dedicated to studying old age.

Boise State University will host two undergraduate programs, while the University of Idaho will oversee a graduate-level program. Furthermore, a new academic institution will be established within the University of Idaho.

The newly sanctioned programs comprise the Bachelor of Science in Neuroscience at Boise State University, the Online Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor of Applied Science in Public Service Leadership at Boise State University, and the Online Master of Science in Gerontology at the University of Idaho.

Additionally, the Board has greenlit a request from the University of Idaho to launch a School of Health and Medical Professions. This school will encompass three departments: Medicine, Clinical Medicine, and Nursing. The proposal aims to enhance healthcare education opportunities and services in northern Idaho.
