Spokane’s Grove fire containment progresses as more buildings burn

SPOKANE, Wash. – The Grove Fire in Spokane is shrinking as fire crews knock down the flames, moving closer to containment.

The Washington Department of Natural Resources (DNR) said containment is growing with 25% of the fire contained as of Thursday morning.

The fire originally broke out Tuesday afternoon prompting Level 3 (Go Now!) evacuations for residents in the area.

Since Tuesday the fire has been 100% lined and evacuation levels have been brought down to a Level 1 (Be Ready).

DNR said that the fire has burned through more than 75 acres of land in Geiger Heights area and now over 7 outbuildings have been affected by the fire.

The cause of this fire is still under investigation and there have been no reported injuries.
