CLARKIA, Idaho – A man was critically injured in a rollover car crash near Clarkia, according to the Idaho State Police (ISP).
The crash occurred around 2:54 p.m. on June 21 on State Highway 3 near milepost 53 in Shoshone County, ISP reported.
A 19-year-old male from Saint Maries was driving a pickup truck and crashed his truck with a 32-year-old male from Pullman driving an SUV. The pickup truck driver, who was not wearing a seatbelt, sustained critical injuries and was airlifted to a local hospital.
The SUV driver, wearing a seatbelt, sustained no injuries, ISP confirmed.
Traffic on State Route 3 was blocked in both directions for approximately 1.5 hours to allow emergency responders to assist those involved. Afterward, traffic was redirected along an alternate route.
The roadway reopened approximately 3 hours after the crash occurred. ISP stated that the incident remains under investigation.
