1 injured in officer-involved shooting in Spokane Valley

SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. – Multiple law enforcement agencies are on the scene of an officer-involved shooting in Spokane Valley, where one person is injured.

According to the Spokane Valley Police Department (SVPD), officers responded to a domestic violence call in the 6800 block of E 10th around 6:30 p.m. Nov. 14.

Callers told police a man was trying to break into a house and that he was possibly armed with a gun. Officers also learned the man had a possible warrant out for his arrest for domestic violence, SVPD said.

Upon arrival, an officer fired shots at the suspect. The suspect was immediately treated for his wounds and was transported to the hospital.

SVPD said what appears to be a firearm was found in the vicinity of the shooting.

Per standard procedure, the officer involved in the shooting will be placed on administrative leave while the investigation continues.

The area of East 10th will be blocked for many hours while the investigation continues.

Spokane Independent Investigative Regional Response Team will take over this investigation.
