ROSALIA, Wash. – A 13-year-old is dead after a fatal crash three miles north of Rosalia Saturday morning.
According to WSP, the incident began when a semi-truck and its trailer lost control on the icy road. The semi-truck jackknifed across the northbound lanes, leading to a chain reaction.
One car, traveling northbound in the left lane, collided with the semi-truck. This car was then pushed into the right lane, hitting two other cars. Meanwhile, the trailer of the semi-truck struck another parked semi-truck, pushing it into a rock wall.
A 13-year-old is dead and one person is injured. The roadway was closed for nearly eight hours in both directions but has since reopened. The cause of the crash is currently under investigation.
Updated Nov. 16 at 9:03 a.m.-A crash involving two cars and two semi trucks blocked southbound lanes about three miles north of Rosalia Saturday morning.
According to Washington State Patrol, the collision took place at around 7:20 a.m. and caused serious injuries.
The current status of the drivers is unclear, but troopers expect traffic to remain slow on southbound 195 throughout the morning.
Updated Nov. 16 at 10:20 a.m. – A detour is in place from Rosalia to Plaza using the old Washington 195 highway according to Washington State Patrol.
