SPOKANE, Wash. – A longtime convicted felon was arrested by the Spokane Police Department (SPD) for a robbery after a brief standoff in a North Spokane McDonald’s parking lot.
On May 1, at 1 p.m., SPD’s Violent Crimes Task Force (VCTF) was looking for a suspect after he entered a woman’s garage, threatened her with a gun, and stole her purse on April 27.
SPD officers located the suspect in a vehicle that pulled into a McDonald’s in the 1800 block of North Monroe, where police said he barricaded himself in his car and refused to surrender to police.
SPD was in the process of calling for more backup, including SWAT, but police were able to breach the suspect’s car and use a pepper spray ball gun on him. Police say the suspect exited his car and arrested him without further incident.
The suspect, Tevan T. Williams, a 34-year-old, was booked into the Spokane County Jail on one count of First Degree Robbery and an outstanding warrant for Third Degree Assault.
Williams is a 17-time convicted felon with convictions including felony assault, robbery, riot with a deadly weapon, extortion, and forgery.
