GRANT COUNTY, Wash. – Grant County Sheriff’s Office says 2 corrections deputies have been placed on paid leave after the death of Richard Lambert who was an inmate at Grant County Jail.
Sheriff Joe Kriete said that Lambert died on Dec. 31 and an investigation began. Two corrections officers that worked at the jail were placed on paid administrative leave as they investigate the incident.
Kriete reminded the public that the paid leave is common and is often used to protect the integrity of the investigation process.
He also clarified that it is not a form of discipline and does not indicate any suspected wrongdoing.
