SPOKANE, Wash. — Two men have been indicted on federal charges in connection to the seizures of the first known commercial pill press in eastern Washington, multiple firearms and a large number of illegal drugs.

Timothy G. Maddox, 43, was charged with 10 felony counts and Nicholas B. Adams, 35, was charged with seven felony counts.

The Regional Street Crimes Unit (ReSCU), with assistance from Spokane Police SWAT and Special Investigations Unit, obtained a search warrant for multiple locations throughout Spokane. These warrants were served in connection to a “lengthy and ongoing illegal drug investigation,” according to ReSCU.

One pill press that was seized by investigators is the first known commercial press associated with illegal fentanyl manufacturing in eastern Washington. It is believed to have produced thousands of pills per hour.

Investigators also seized fentanyl, methamphetamine, heroin, cocaine, a dozen firearms, suppressors, switches used to convert firearms from semi-auto to full auto and more than $57,000 in cash.

“Our community is safer and stronger as a result of the investigative work of the numerous law enforcement agencies, who came together to investigate this case,” stated U.S. Attorney Waldref. “Seizures of large-scale pill presses like this are key to cutting off the deadly supply of illegal fentanyl in the Inland Northwest and elsewhere.”

ReSCU is composed of federal, state, and local Investigators who work collaboratively to address crimes and criminals that threaten the safety of our Community. Member agencies include Spokane County Sheriff’s Office, Spokane Police Department, Customs and Border Protection, Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms, Washington State Department of Corrections, and the Drug Enforcement Administration.
