LEWISTON, Idaho – A 24-year-old man from Lewiston was arrested for allegedly raping a 6-year-old child.
According to the Lewiston Police Department, detectives were called to a house in Lewiston on the evening of July 23 when a family member of the child walked in and reportedly saw the suspect identified Dakota Hall, 24 allegedly raping the child. Police subsequently interviewed the witness, the child victim and the suspect. Both the child and the witness stated that the man had engaged in lewd conduct.
During the interview, the suspect allegedly admitted to the act but claimed he did not continue further. LPD Detective Cody Bloomsburg asked Mr. Hall, “To be clear, today was the first day you’ve raped a child?” and Mr. Hall reportedly stated, “yeah.”
The man was arrested and booked into the Nez Perce Detention Facility for lewd conduct with a child under 16 years of age, which carries a maximum penalty of 25 years. In court today, Nez Perce County Prosecutor Justin Coleman argued for a $1 million bond, citing Mr. Hall as a significant risk to the community and children at large. Magistrate Judge Olds set the bond at $1 million.
“I look forward to the day that Mr. Hall is escorted out of the courtroom and sent to prison for a lengthy sentence for what he put this 6-year-old child through. There is no suitable punishment for a crime like this,” said Prosecutor Justin Coleman.
