2,500 gallons of fuel stolen from Moses Lake business, suspect arrested

MOSES LAKE, Wash. – 2,500 gallons of fuel were stolen from Patton Park One Mart, with an estimated stolen value of $12,000.

According to the Moses Lake Police Department, on May 13, around 6 p.m., officers responded to a report of fuel theft at 5219 Patton Boulevard.

Police stated that the suspects had “hacked” the pumps overnight, taking approximately 2,500 gallons of diesel fuel valued at $12,000.

On May 24, a community member informed dispatch about a vehicle linked to the fuel theft. Moses Lake police and Grant County deputies located the suspect’s vehicle and conducted a traffic stop.

Subsequent investigation by the police revealed that the stopped vehicle was indeed involved in the theft. The driver, identified as Carlos Cabrera-Alonso, 39, of Wilsonville, Oregon, was arrested and charged with First-Degree Theft. The suspect’s car was seized for a search warrant.

Police discovered that the suspect’s car contained eight large plastic containers, some holding fuel.

The investigation remains ongoing. Moses Lake police are collaborating with Oregon authorities to determine whether this incident is connected to any thefts in their jurisdiction.
