$3 million worth of backpacks given away in annual “School Rocks Backpack Giveaway”

INLAND NORTHWEST — $3 million worth of backpacks were given away for free at the Round Room LLC’s 12th Annual “School Rocks Backpack Giveaway.”

According to Round Room, a Verizon-authorized retailer, hundreds of families are expected to line up to receive free backpacks and participate in free family activities.

Families spend an average of $890 on school supplies. Round Room hopes to ease some financial stress as prices continue to rise. Any extra backpacks left will be donated to local schools.

The giveaway started at 1 p.m. on July 28 and was stationed at these store locations:

520 Diagonal St, Clarkston221 S Pioneer Way, Moses Lake143 Thain Rd, Lewiston477100 Highway 95, Ponderay3760 E Seltice Way, Post Falls430 W Hanley Ave, Coeur D’Alene201 Superior St, Sandpoint

“This year, in addition to giving away more than 120,000 backpacks,” Round Room said in a press release. “10 lucky students will be “Golden Ruler” winners, receiving a $100 gift card to purchase school supplies and $1,000 for their school.”

Round Room hosted a giveaway at more than 1,000 TCC and Wireless Zone locations.

“All at the same time, on the same Sunday afternoon, there’s a simultaneous period of giving at our TCC and Wireless Zone stores around the country. It’s a beautiful thing,” said Scott Moorehead, CEO of Round Room. “We believe in the power of community and the importance of education, which is why this initiative is so important to everyone throughout the Round Room organization. Our corporate team, store owners, and store employees work hard to make this happen every year because they genuinely want to make a profound impact. They want to help ensure every student has the basic tools they need to start the school year off on the right foot.”
