48 animals rescued, 3 dead from animal cruelty incident in Colville

STEVENS COUNTY, Wash. — 42 cats and six dogs were rescued from an animal cruelty incident near Colville.

The Stevens County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO) responded to the report of a possible animal cruelty situation on May 31. SCSO said after they received a search warrant, deputies found 48 animals in poor health and filthy indoor conditions.

Volunteers with the Colville Valley Animal Sanctuary (CVAS) worked through the night to set up housing and medical care.
