Mother’s Day is just a few days away. Do you know how you’re celebrating with the moms in your life? Luckily for those of you that don’t currently have a plan, there are lots of things going on around Spokane on May 8th that may just suit your celebration needs perfectly.

Art in Bloom at the Dahmen Barn
This garden-themed art show includes a variety of 2D and 3D items showcasing the natural world in all it’s realistic – and fantastical – glory. Mediums used include watercolors, sculpture, pastels, oils, paper mache, glass, and more. The show is open from 10am til 6pm on Sunday and admission is free.

Spring Release Weekend in the Cork District
What better way to celebrate Mom than with some delicious wine from one of over a dozen local wineries! From Overbluff Cellars to Latah Creek Winery, from Bridge Press Cellars to Barrister Winery, and from Arbor Crest Wine Cellars to Nectar Tasting Room, there will be new reds, whites, blends, sangrias, and more to tempt your palate. Most tasting rooms will be open from noon to 5pm, and tasting fees will vary from place to place.

27th Annual Mother’s Day Historic Homes Tour
Why not spend some time traipsing through someone else’s house this Mother’s Day? Take the Historic Homes Tour (brought to you by the Northwest Museum of Arts and Culture) and explore two iconic homes on West Sumner Avenue – the Leuthold-Brown House built in 1925 and the Matthews-Woldson House built in 1916. Tours run from noon to 4pm and cost $15 for museum members and $20 for non-members.

Listen to Your Mother at The Bing
In the grand tradition of the Vagina Monologues, Listen to Your Mother is not your ordinary stage event. Local writers will read from original work on the theme of mothers and motherhood. Stories will be funny, sad, silly, and serious. A percentage of all ticket sales will go to the Women Helping Women Fund, and a reception with drinks and refreshments will follow at Ovations. The show begins at 7pm and tickets cost $19 per person.

Mother’s Day Brunch
Who isn’t having a Mother’s Day brunch this year? You can attend the annual Champagne Brunch featuring omelets, desserts, and sides at the Immaculate Heart Retreat Center for $30 (9am-2pm). If seafood sounds more tempting you can attend the 1898 Public House Mother’s Day Brunch for $45 (9am-3pm). There’s also the Mother’s Day Ballroom Brunch at the Max at Mirabeau, with Belgian waffles, French omelets, chilled seafood, and more for $32. And if mimosas are your mom’s thing, you can head to Yards Bruncheon from 7am til 3pm and try one of their mimosa flights, with your choice of three flavors (such as pear, huckleberry, blueberry, and mango).
