5 injured in crash west of Othello

OTHELLO, Wash. – Five Moscow, Idaho, residents are injured following a car crash late Saturday night.

According to Washington State Patrol (WSP), around 10:30 p.m. on Nov. 25, a vehicle was traveling eastbound on state route 26 near mile point 36, four miles west of Othello, when the driver lost control on the icy roadway, causing them to cross over into the westbound lane. The car then rolled and came to a rest in a ditch.

The five people, Benqi Zhang, Xian Gao, Zherong Qian, and Fei Teng, all 21 years old and 22-year-old Yiqun Wang, were transported to nearby hospitals due to their injuries. The extent of their injuries is unknown.

Zhang was the driver of the car and was the one to call for help. All five were not wearing their seatbelts.

The official cause of the crash is under investigation by WSP.
