PULLMAN, Wash. – 5th Congressional District candidates moved into general election campaigning this weekend with visits to Pullman.

Conroy, a former US State Department official with strong ties to union organizing in eastern Washington, headed to Pullman Saturday morning after picking up a bipartisan endorsement from Air Force veteran and Republican Rick Valentine Flynn Friday night.

“Mr. Flynn and I have a lot in common. We both served overseas, and we are passionate about ensuring veterans in Eastern Washington receive the high-quality care they deserve,” Conroy said.

Spokane County Treasurer Michael Baumgartner (R) also visited Pullman Saturday, and shared pictures of himself enjoying the National Lentil Festival and 5k run on Washington State University’s campus.

“It’s always great when you can run for office by running for office,” Baumgartner said.

In major congressional races, candidates often cross paths several times ahead of the November election as they attend large community events to network with voters.

Baumgartner and Conroy both appeared at a Spokane Rotary Club event on Thursday and took a picture with the candidate they are both vying to replace, Congresswoman Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R).
