SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. — A 64-year-old man made his first court appearance Thursday, facing charges in connection with a hit-and-run crash authorities are calling a possible road rage incident.
According to the Washington State Patrol (WSP), Scott Beeching is accused of ramming his pickup truck into another vehicle multiple times, causing a rollover crash that injured one person. Beeching faces injury hit-and-run charges and was held on a $15,000 bond.
Court documents said that the incident entering I-90 in Spokane Valley. The victims told police Beeching had been tailgating their truck, honking his horn, and gesturing at them before the crash.
After the crash, Beeching reportedly left the scene but turned himself in to WSP hours later. Court documents state Beeching told troopers he had blacked out and lost track of time during the incident. He also claimed he did not remember what happened.
WSP said they identified Beeching’s truck as the one caught on camera during the incident.
Beeching is scheduled to return to court on Jan. 14.
