7.0 magnitude earthquake rocks northern California and Oregon

EUREKA, California – A 7.0 magnitude earthquake shook up parts of northern California and Oregon on Thursday morning. Tsunami warnings are now in effect for the region.

USGS reports that the earthquake happened around 10:45 a.m.

Parts of Oregon also felt some of the effects of the earthquake. Bend, Medford and other parts of Oregon were in the radius of effected cities.

The earthquake was reported off the coast of California about 48 miles away from Fortuna and is around 8 miles deep.

Several smaller earthquakes followed the initial shake ranging from 4.2 – 3.1

Tsunami:

The coast of California and Oregon are in the ‘warning’ level of the Tsunami. The warning level is indicated in red on the USGS map.

Cities like Coos Bay, Port Orford, North Bend, San Francisco and Santa Rosa are all in warning effects.
