92-year-old man to face trial in June for rape and murder of woman in 1967

A 92-year-old man could face a trial next summer over the rape and murder of 75-year-old Louisa Dunne who was killed in 1967.

Ryland Headley, of Clarence Road, Ipswich, was due to appear at Bristol Crown Court today (Wed) but a trial date was set in his absence for June next year.

Louisa’s body was found by a neighbor inside her home in Britannia Road in the Easton area of Bristol, on Wednesday, June 28, 1967.

Headley faces two charges – the first one that between the 26th and 29th of June 1967 in Easton Bristol of murdering Louisa Dunne.

He is also accused of raping her on the same date.

The court set a date for a plea and trial preparation hearing on 14 February.

A provisional trial date was also set for 16 June.

No application was made for bail.
