SPOKANE, Wash. – A Gonzaga nursing student made their music debut last month, releasing her first single, “love lives in a room.”

During her last semester as a Gonzaga nursing student, Sarah Perez, is breaking boundaries as a new artist. Through working 12-hour shifts at Sacred Heart’s Cardiac Unit to navigating the challenges of nursing school, Perez is “embarking on a dream of building a name for herself in the music industry.”

“love lives in a room” is a “sweet and resonant ode to the intricacies of love,” according to The Luna Collective’s 2023 music editorial. The short, one-minute, 51-second single reflects the artist’s spirit while conveying a clear message of unapologetic self-expression.

“The inspiration for this song stems from a profound friendship, painting an evocative and nostalgic portrait of love’s deepest and most inexplicable forms,” said Perez.

Her artist name, ratvibes.only and her motto, ‘if rats run the streets of New York City, then so will we,” have one overarching message – embrace and embody your most authentic and expressive self.

With more releases on the horizon, Perez said she is “poised to make waves both in the healthcare field and the music industry.”

“love lives in a room” is available to listen to on Apple Music, Spotify, YouTube, Pandora or IHeart.
