Police chase leads to arrest of vehicle prowler suspect in Airway Heights

AIRWAY HEIGHTS, Wash. – The Airway Heights Police Department arrested a suspected vehicle prowler on Tuesday after he rammed into a police car and fled afterward.

On Tuesday, March 26, at around 7:20 a.m., Airway Heights police received an alert from a license plate recognition camera of a vehicle suspected of being involved in a car prowling incident on March 24.

Police in the area located the vehicle on Northern Quest Drive near the Northern Quest Casino.

Airway Heights PD say an officer initiated a traffic stop, the car rammed the officer’s vehicle and fled, driving through a landscaped area of the casino, causing extensive damage.

Police pursued the suspect until it stopped due to the extensive damage caused after driving through the landscaped area of the casino. The male driver and female passenger exited the car and fled on foot.

The male driver and female passenger were apprehended shortly and detained for the Officer’s investigation. 34-year-old Douglas J. Farmer was arrested shortly after.

Police then obtained a search warrant for his vehicle on March 28 and found a gun.

Farmer was arrested and booked into the Spokane County Jail for attempting to elude a police vehicle, Second Degree Assault, First Degree Malicious Mischief, Second Degree Malicious Mischief, Possession of a Controlled Substance (Fentanyl), Vehicle Prowling, Third Degree Malicious Mischief, Third Degree Theft and an outstanding Department of Corrections Escape from Community Custody Warrant.
