DETROIT, MI.-Ford is recalling 43,000 of its popular Bronco Sport SUVs due to the possibility of gas leaks and fires.
Ford’s recall includes 2022 and 2023 Bronco Sport models, as well as 2022 Escapes with 1.5 liter engines.
According to NBC News reporting on the recall, Ford filed documents with U.S. Safety Regulators explaining that fuel injectors on the recalled vehicles could crack and gas could gather on hot surfaces, creating fire hazards.
Bronco and Edge owners will be notified starting April 1 if their car is included in the recall.
Ford will reportedly install a tube to let gas flow away from hot engine parts and will update engine control software to detect any pressure drops in the fuel injection system, according to the National Traffic Highway Safety Commission.
Five fires have been reported due to the problem, however, no injuries or crashes have resulted from those fires, according to NBC News.
