SPOKANE, Wash. – City of Spokane workers added anti-graffiti coating surfaces on the Monroe Street Bridge on Monday.

According to the municipal government, staff removed graffiti on the bridge before adding the new coating.

The Spokane Police Department (SPD) encourages property owners to apply clear coating to surfaces that could be susceptible to graffiti to make it easier to remove.

The Washington State Department of Transportation spent over $1.4 million on graffiti removal last biennium and expects to spend more in the next two years as the issue becomes more prevalent.

Graffiti can be reported as a code compliance violation to City Services online or by calling 311.
