SPOKANE, Wash. – They are baaaack! The Wishing Star Foundation’s annual ‘Send a Friend a Goat’ effort has returned with baby goats popping up all over Spokane. The fundraiser helps the nonprofit pay for wishes for children with a terminal or life threatening illness.
Wishes can range from a family trip to Disneyworld to a back yard makeover. Right now, there are more than 50 wishes in waiting across the Inland Northwest. The average cost of a wish has increased significantly in the past few years, reaching approximately $9,500.
“We just continue to expand and grow in Spokane, Kootenai County and the Tri Cities,” said Wishing Star’s Cindy Guthrie-Tripp. “We don’t want to turn kids away. We want to bless them with a wish. The more money that comes in, the more kids we can help.”
You can still send a friend a goat if you live in the Tri Cities, but it’s too late in Spokane. The effort will begin in the Tri Cities next month. It’s $75 to order a goat. For more information, head to wishingstar.org.
