SPOKANE, Wash. — The at a suspect near have been identified.
The Spokane Police Department confirmed Officer Matthew Stewart, Samuel Canty and Joshua Stewart fired their weapons on April 18.
The shooting took place after a suspect was accused of stabbing and shooting a tow truck tire earlier that day. The suspect was seen at or near Shadle Park High School, where police tried to contact him.
SPD said the suspect ran from police and was shot at the edge of the school’s campus at Longfellow Avenue.
The suspect was transported to the hospital, where he is expected to survive. The identity of the suspect remains unknown.
The three officers involved are on administrative leave.
The Washington State Patrol is the managing agency for this incident. The Spokane Independent Investigative Response (SIIR) Team will release any updates as they come in.
