SPOKANE, Wash. – Tomorrow is Rock the Runway, an annual fundraiser for The Arc of Spokane where people with developmental and intellectual disabilities get to pick out outfits from thrift stores and model them on stage.
Tickets are sold out, but they still need donations to support local people with disabilities.
The Arc of Spokane takes your donations and uses them to fund the programs helping people with developmental and intellectual disabilities right here in Spokane.
They work with families with kids with disabilities and support them into adulthood. They help people with disabilities find jobs where they can be happy.
The goal of Rock the Runway is to raise money, and to be inclusive.
“The reason that we do this is so that we can put people with disabilities center stage and tell them ‘go be you’,” said Kelsey Bumgarner with The Arc of Spokane. “Because they are people to be celebrated just like anyone else and we are really excited to allow them the opportunity to just be center stage.”
