SPOKANE, Wash. – The MultiCare Deaconess Hospital earned an “A” grade in hospital safety from The Leapfrog Group, a national nonprofit that annually measures standards for patient care.
Based on measurements of errors, accidents, injuries, infections as well as the hospital’s ability to prevent them, Leapfrog assigns a grade to general hospitals across the country from an A all the way to an F.
“Leapfrog is the gold standard for hospital safety and MultiCare Deaconess is proud to be recognized,” said Greg Repetti, president of Deaconess Hospital. “This award represents the dedication and excellence our team puts into delivering outstanding patient care for this wonderful community that we call home.”
Among the 13 hospitals in the state to receive an A grade this year, MultiCare Deaconess Hospital is the only one in Spokane, according to the Media Relations Manager at MultiCare’s Inland Northwest Region, Kevin M. Maloney.
“Earning an ‘A’ grade means MultiCare Deaconess Hospital has made a true commitment to put patients first,” said Leah Binder, president and CEO of The Leapfrog Group. “We congratulate the leadership, board, clinicians, staff and volunteers that all had a role to play in this achievement.”
This is also the second consecutive year that MultiCare Deaconess Hospital has won the award, according to a release from MultiCare.
According to MultiCare, The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade is the only hospital ratings program that focuses exclusively on preventing medical errors, infections and injuries within hospitals.
