NEWMAN LAKE, Wash. – On April 30, one man, Larry Taylor (“LT”) was killed in a deadly house fire.

The Newman Lake Fire and Rescue said the cause of the fire is still under investigation, but investigators determined that the location and origin of the fire was inside the home.

The Medical Examiner’s Office has yet to conduct an evaluation.

The fire department added that they were unable to find working smoke detectors and that the home likely did not have working detectors.

“I do think that they were very timely in responding. There aren’t any…fire hydrants… around here and the terrain is difficult to navigate. The firefighters had to set up sort of like a reservoir to dump water in to then pull from,” Farah Taylor, LT’s daughter, said.

Taylor maintains she believes the fire responders did everything they could to try to save her father and his home.

Taylor told NonStop Local that LT bought the property in 1989. Growing up, she would split her time between her dad’s home and her mother’s home.

“Every birthday I spent out here,” Taylor said.

Despite those memories going up in flames with the house, Taylor plans to rebuild her father’s home.

“The day of the fire, I didn’t know if I’d be able to come out here and enjoy the water again. But, I’ve been out here every day since, and seeing the beauty and seeing my dad’s view, I do see a day when we can come out here. After we rebuild… and visit my dad. And remember him,” Taylor said.
