SPOKANE, Wash. – While temperatures are rising in eastern Washington, swimming is still inadvisable according to state officials.
The Washington State Injury and Violence Prevention Guide offers information on the dangers of swimming without a life jacket. From 1997 to 2007, 197 children unintentionally drowned in Washington. Only five of those children were wearing life jackets at the time.
