SPOKANE, Wash. — The family of 12-year-old Nahziyien Gordon held a candlelight memorial for multiple hours in Riverfront Park, bringing flowers and signs to honor his memory.

Gordon’s family, friends, and classmates brought flowers and wrote signs in remembrance of Nahziyien, or Jo, as many people called him.

Amanda Muellner, the aunt of Gordon, said he was the kindest kid she knew.

“The sweetest kid, he always had a smile on his face. He loved life. He loved his family,” Muellner said.

Muellner said that Gordon didn’t like the water, and is still unsure why he would have gone in.

The family said they still have many , and the investigation by the Spokane Police is ongoing.

Friends wrote uplifting messages in chalk on the bridge and gave their thoughts and condolences to the family.
