PIERCE COUNTY, Wash. – After being closed for the winter, the Washington State Department of Transportation announced that Cayuse Pass (SR 123) is set to reopen on May 24, however Chinook Pass (SR 410) will remain closed due to a washout.
WSDOT says starting May 24, SR 410 will be closed at the SR 123 junction while SR 123 fully opens in the morning.
SR 410 from Crystal Mountain Boulevard to the SR 123 junction will partially open, though no parking is allowed at the junction.
WSDOT states that all commercial vehicles cannot travel through Mount Rainier National Park.
Despite crews completing work on the east side of SR 410, 300 feet of guardrail still needs to be installed. Colder temperatures and snow are also forecasted over the weekend, according to WSDOT.
