SPOKANE, Wash. – Spokane saw a number of large events and tourism resulting in a massive economic impact on local communities and the city as a whole.
Last year the Spokane County tourism sector reported that it reached $1.48 billion in visitor spending which is a 3.9% increase from 2022.
The city attributing the spending into five different sectors:
Food & Beverage $414 million (28%)Lodging $368 million (25%)Retail $316 million (21%)Transport $250 million (17%)Recreation/Entertainment $127 million (9%)
This is also the first time since the COVID-19 pandemic that Spokane saw a rise in visitor volume with 9.8 million visitors in 2023.
When talking about the impact the President of Visit Spokane, Rose Noble, said “This is a testament to the hard work of Visit Spokane, Spokane business owners, and workers in the tourism and hospitality industry.”
The total spending also contributing to the total economic impact which Visit Spokane estimates to be $2.28 billion.
