SPOKANE, Wash. – A draft of proposed salaries for City of Spokane officials was released following a majority vote by the Spokane Salary Review Commission, showing an upward trend for the coming years.
The three elected official positions, mayor, council president and council members will all have increases in the coming years.
Salaries for these roles for this year will not increase and currently are:
Mayor: $179,148Council President: $66,114Council Members: $49,799
The salary increase for all three positions was 1.5% from 2023 to 2024.
The Spokane Salary Review Commission is set to present the next two years of salaries for these officials. The city mayor will have a 3% increase in 2025, which the SRC attributes to a 5.5% cost of living increase over the last two years. The total increase from 2024 to 2025 is $9,852.
The council president’s salary is set 10% higher in 2025 to reflect additional administrative duties, according to the SRC. The total increase from 2024 to 2025 is $8,386.
The council members will see the largest salary increase at 36.5% in 2025, which the SRC credits to aligning it with the median income for a family of four living in Spokane. The total increase from 2024 to 2025 is $18,201.
The total salaries for these roles in 2025 will be:
Mayor: $189,000Council President: $74,500Council Members: $68,000
When evaluating the wage increases for 2026, the SRC found that a 3% increase for each position would help compensate for the projected increase in the cost of living.
In 2026, the salaries will be:
Mayor: $194,500Council President: $77,000Council Members: $70,000
