SPOKANE, Wash. – The car crash that shut down westbound I-90 traffic for several hours on Monday was caused by a medical event.
According to Washington State Patrol (WSP), the crash was caused by a WSP trooper experiencing a medical emergency behind the wheel and striking a Sienna with his WSP vehicle. The collision took place at milepost 286 near the Broadway Avenue Overpass at about 10:30 am.
Both the trooper and the driver of the Sienna were transported to local hospitals where they were treated for minor injuries.
It is unclear what kind of medical event led to the collision, but the trooper is currently at Sacred Heart Medical Center receiving treatment.
