SPOKANE, Wash. – The Spokane Regional Health District (SRHD) offered tips for staying safe at Hoopfest on Tuesday.
The recommendations focused on being prepared for a long day outside.
“One of the best ways to prevent heat-related illnesses is to stay hydrated and drink plenty of fluids, like water. This is especially important for Hoopfest participants who plan to be out on the court breaking a sweat,” SRHD said.
Wearing high SPF sunscreen was also recommended by the health district. Additional safety measures include being aware of the nearest first-aid tent and remaining vigilant to prevent heat related illnesses.
Hoopfest 2024 is just a month away. Registration to volunteer is still open.
