ASOTIN, Wash. – The Attorney General’s Office (AG) announced that it has filed charges against a Clarkston man for intimidating a judge and harassing other local officials

Lunney was charged in Asotin County Superior Court with judge intimidation and four counts of harassment against local officials. If convicted, he faces a maximum penalty of ten years in prison and a $20,000 fine for the judge intimidation charge, five years in prison, and a $10,000 fine for each harassment count.

Charging documents reveal that Lunney was detained in Asotin County jail following allegations of threatening to shoot up an elementary school and a county fair parade. He pleaded guilty to making a bomb threat and two counts of harassment. The probable cause declaration asserts that while in jail, Lunney communicated threats to harm multiple people, intensifying after his guilty plea.

Over two months in 2023, Lunney allegedly detailed plans to kill the judge who presided over his case, the judge’s dog, the county prosecutor, a city councilor and a jail guard to another inmate. Lunney planned to follow some targets to their homes and orchestrated a “unique courthouse invasion.” He also intended to have others lace food or spray fentanyl on some targets.

Assistant Attorney General James Atchley is handling the case for the AG’s Office.
