Woman in serious condition after shooting at Spokane Valley apartment

SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. — A woman is in serious condition after a fight led to a shooting in Spokane Valley.

The Spokane County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO) confirmed deputies responded to the 3000 block of South Pines Road in Spokane Valley around 11:30 p.m. for someone with a gunshot wound. SCSO said the caller said the woman was dropped off and wouldn’t give any information on what happened.

Deputies questioned the woman, who said she had met some friends near North Park Road earlier in the day when another group arrived. She said they were all handing out, and when she got up to go to work, she was shot.

Major Crimes detectives responded to investigate and learned the shooting happened at an apartment in the 3000 block of South Pines Road. According to witness statements, a man and two women were inside the apartment when the two women began arguing. The argument led to a physical altercation, and when the man tried to break it up, one woman shot the other.

SCSO said the man drove the woman to the hospital and dropped her off. The other woman left the scene, and all attempts to reach her have been unsuccessful.

Investigators do not believe there is a threat to the public, as all parties involved know each other. No arrests have been made at this time.
