COEUR D’ALENE, Idaho – A SWAT search in Coeur d’Alene ended with the seizure of guns, meth and fentanyl Wednesday night.
According to the Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office, a 60-year-old woman and 30-year-old man were arrested during the SWAT search in a home on the 11000 block of West Wyoming Avenue.
Sheriff Bob Norris used the incident as an opportunity to highlight the fentanyl crisis.
“Fentanyl is destroying communities all over this country, and Kootenai County is not immune. 99 percent of Fentanyl in Kootenai County can be tracked to the Southern Border,” Norris said.
Norris did not cite any source for his claim that such a high percentage of fentanyl comes from Mexico. US Congressional Research Service data indicates that drug smuggling through ports of entry are often carried out by US citizens.
This is a developing story. More information will appear as available.
