COEUR D’ ALENE, Idaho. – The North Idaho DUI task force was awarded a grant to support the training of additional officers and provide them with tools for identifying and removing impaired drivers from our roads.
The nearly $30,000 dollar grant coming from the Governors Highway Safety Association (GHSA), the National Alliance to Stop Impaired Driving (NASID), and Responsibility.org.
“Our law enforcement partners in Idaho and across the country are doing everything they can to address impaired driving and make our roads safer, but they face an incredible challenge and need our support,” said GHSA Chief Executive Officer Jonathan Adkins.
Law enforcement is working to target suspected peak DUI events like holidays, evenings, and weekends and even work on community outreach events that educates drivers about the dangers of impaired driving.
“The Idaho State Police is proud to work with local law enforcement and the Office of Highway Safety. By pooling resources and expertise, we ensure a comprehensive approach to traffic safety.” said Sergeant Troy Tulleners from ISP.
