ATHOL, Idaho—This weekend, Silverwood Theme Park is opening Boulder Beach for the first time since its $15 million expansion project.
They now have the only dueling water coaster on the West Coast and the longest in the United States.
Its name is Eagle Hunt. It can accommodate about 720 riders per hour and is 925 inches in length.
Riders will race against their friends while sliding through three flying saucers and getting blasted up four hills before splashing at the bottom.
You can also race against the clock. You are an eagle chasing your dinner, and if you get to the bottom in a certain amount of time, you will have ‘caught’ your prey.
This is just one of several new slides added to Boulder Beach at Silverwood. A whole new section, known as the Emerald Forest, is where you will find Eagle Hunt. Emerald Forest adds about 4 acres to Boulder Beach.
There is also a new area called the Salmon Run. It’s a kiddie section inspired by local fish in Idaho lakes.
There’s a new splash pad and 8 different slides, ranging from 36 to 82 feet long, with lots of twists, turns, and winding tracks.
Emerald Forest will also have a new grab-and-go food spot known as the Rapids Grill. Park officials say they can theoretically serve 1200 guests per hour, and the goal is to help remove lines.
