SPOKANE, Wash. – As summer approaches, air conditioning and heating businesses are receiving an influx of service calls. Yet, a few federal changes are going to bump up the cost of your AC next year, and one local family-owned business is sounding the alarm to help save you money down the line.
30 years of business translates to 30 years of friendship, trust, and success for the Glover family.
“Every time we do a job, we’ve made a new friend and it’s part of the community. I have lots of friends,” Dan Glover, Complete Heating and Sheet Metal, Inc. owner, said.
Rather than chasing a dollar, Complete Heating and Sheet Metal, Inc., cares about chasing your support.
“30 years of that kind of speaks for itself, I suppose,” Glover said. “And that is super rewarding, to be accepted.”
Spokane not only accepted the owner, Dan Glover, but the entire team – the whole family. Rather than being a big corporation surrounded by corporate dollars, this business operates where the single crew lives, in Spokane.
“It’s all in the family, it’s nice that way,” Glover said.
Dan’s daughter, Sarah, joined the team full-time after graduating high school. For a short time, she attended Eastern Washington University business classes, but quickly realized she would learn more tackling the craft hands on instead of reading a textbook.
“She’s been coming to work with me since she was four, so she knows it inside and out pretty well, and to see her take an interest in what I’ve done my whole life is fun,” Glover said.
Like father, like daughter.
“It’s funny, I found a fifth-grade report that I did where it’s asking for your name, your favorite color, what you want to do, and it was literally, ‘be dad’s assistant when I grow up,’ so it’s funny that this is where I fell into place,” Sarah Glover, Complete Heating and Sheet Metal, Inc. office administrator, said.
While this team is busy all year, summer calls spike when the AC turns on. However, there are a few federal changes on the way come 2025 that will impact the cost of local AC installation and repair. Sarah Glover said AC units are currently using Freon R-410A, but come next year, that’s switching to Freon R-24A, which is friendlier to the environment, but much more expensive.
By next year, distributors won’t even carry the current type of Freon, meaning if you repair or replace your AC unit in 2025 rather than 2024, it’s going to cost you a lot more money.
“The old stuff goes way up in costs so a lot of times it’s a lot more cost efficient to replace your unit than to try and repair it and baby it along as much as you can, where in the long run you’re better off just replacing it,” Sarah Glover said.
This family’s best advice is to not push off any of your AC changes; you’ll save a lot of money if you receive service this summer.
“To act now would be a good idea, you’ll save some trouble,” Glover said.
And if you do need AC help, the Glover family is a phone call away. You can contact them by calling the main office at (509) 533- 9528.
Keep in mind, regardless of the federal changes next year, as the hot temperatures turn the corner across the Inland Northwest, local demand is very high.
“I just recommend people plan ahead,” Glover said.
