BOISE, Idaho – In Nov. 2020, Amazon sought to break into the healthcare industry with the opening of an online pharmacy. Four years later, the tech giant has partnered with Blue Cross of Idaho as an in-network option.

According to Blue Cross of Idaho, health plan members will be able to transfer their existing prescriptions to Amazon Pharmacy. Blue Cross of Idaho Vice President Steve Olson touted the move as a win for medical accessibility.

“Amazon Pharmacy has an easy shopping experience, exceptional pricing and a world-class delivery platform, solving many of the pain points some of our rural members face when seeking quick, easy access to prescriptions,” Olson said.

Amazon joins other companies like Walmart and RiteAid in attempting to bring in new consumers with digital pharmaceutical platforms. For additional information on how to safely utilize online pharmacies, check the US Food and Drug Administration’s website here.
