Spokane explores trade industries with new glazing apprenticeship

SPOKANE, Wash. – Thursday evening, there’s an open house for a new glazing apprenticeship program here in Spokane, where people can gain real-world, hands-on experience while learning the trade in a classroom setting.

To clarify, glazing involves working with glass, so participants in this program will learn skills applicable globally, whether in public buildings, homes, or any setting that uses glass.

Participants will attend one evening class per week and spend the remainder of their time working in the field, learning on the job under a journeyman.

Companies cover tuition for apprentices as an investment in the industry’s future, according to Jodi Martinez of AllStar Glass Company. This training aims to prepare employees for successful careers.

“All we need are people excited to get to work,” Martinez added.

“Glass isn’t going anywhere,” Martinez continued. “As we learn more about mental health and safe, productive environments, natural light becomes essential. Glass allows us to bring elements of the outdoors inside, promoting healthier living.”

Applicants do not need to be recent high school graduates or current students; the program welcomes individuals of all ages.

The event takes place tonight from 5-8 p.m. at the CITC building in Spokane (10428 W Aero Rd), just off I-90. Multiple glazing companies will be present, including AllStar Glass Company and Modern Glass of Spokane.
