SPOKANE, Wash. – The 126th anniversary of the independence of the Philippines will be celebrated by the Spokane-Malay Friendship City Initiative in Riverfront Park this year.

The festivities will take place near the Clock Tower and include Filipino cuisine, live music and dance. Additional details can be found on Visit Spokane’s website.

Ties between the Philippines and the Lilac City have existed for decades. The state of Washington has a formal friendship agreement with the Pangasinan Province of the Philippines, and the Filipino American Northwest Association has hosted independence day celebrations since 2018.
