SHOSHONE COUNTY, Idaho. – On Thursday, the Shoshone County Sheriff’s Office responded to an ATV accident in which two people were life-flighted after their ATV rolled on top of them, crushing them.
A man and woman were traveling up a mountain to visit the Middle Sister Fire Tower when they hit a large patch of snow, causing the ATV to become unstable.
The man driving the ATV attempted to turn around and accidentally accelerated the vehicle, causing them to go up a sidewall and flip.
The woman in the accident had a shoulder injury and a possible broken collarbone, while the man had a cracked sternum and a possible punctured lung.
A LifeFlight crew was able to meet them and begin treatment but couldn’t get them to the helicopter. Another helicopter unit, Two Bear Air, was called in and able to hoist them up.
