EAST WENATCHEE, Wash. – Ashton Bunting Jr., 22, has been arrested for allegedly murdering Synithia Ring, a 28-year-old mother from East Wenatchee.
According to the East Wenatchee Police Department, Bunting was apprehended on June 18 at 9:30 a.m. in Ohio. He is accused of fleeing the Eastmont Avenue apartment where Synthia Ring was reportedly killed on June 11 while her 4-year-old child cried nearby.
Following his arrest, Douglas County prosecutors charged Bunting with Second Degree Murder on Tuesday.
Police reported that Bunting had already left the state when Ring’s body was discovered. He was allegedly involved in a car accident in South Dakota that afternoon, just three hours before authorities were alerted to the incident at her residence. Later, surveillance footage placed him at a bicycle shop in Marshall, Minnesota, southeast of Minneapolis.
As of June 19, Bunting is being held in the Wood County Jail in Bowling Green, Ohio, and is expected to be extradited to Douglas County to face charges.
The Ring family started an online fundraising program to help raise money for Synthia’s child.
