LEWISTON, Idaho. – The Lewiston Police Department arrested a man for DUI after hitting power poles leaving live wires hanging down his car.

Andrew Flodin, 48, was driving in the area of 1800 Main Street when several witnesses said he hit two power poles and a parked car around 12:30 a.m. on Wednesday.

Police responded and found that Flodin was inside his car, which had several live wires hanging down onto it. They instructed him to stay inside his car until Avista could come and safely turn the power off.

Main Street was closed for several hours while crews worked to safely address the incident.

Once Avista turned the wires off Flodin was removed from his car uninjured.

Police began investigating and said they believe alcohol was a factor in the crash and arrested and booked Flodin into the Nez Perce County Jail on DUI charges.

The estimated property damage was over $30,000 dollars.
