Man arrested in Spokane Valley standoff identified

SPOKANE, Wash. – The Spokane County Sheriff’s Office identified a man that was

Savaad Alex, 46, was arrested after he allegedly barricaded himself in a house and refused to leave around 6:15 p.m. on Wednesday.

Alex had several felonies warrants for his arrest for charges of unlawful possession of a firearm 1st Degree, attempt to elude law enforcement vehicle, possession of a controlled substance, and a Washington State Department of Corrections escape community custody hold.

Spokane Valley law enforcement became aware of the warrants after scanning the suspicious temporary plates outside a house on East 4th Avenue and S Park Street.

The standoff lasted until around 11 p.m., when Alex was found hiding in a crawlspace. He was sent to the hospital for heat exposure before being booked into Spokane County Jail.
