VANCOUVER ISLAND, Canada – A 6.4 magnitude earthquake hit the Washington and Canada coastline, causing a shakeup around the region.
The earthquake, which struck just off Vancouver Island around 8 a.m. on Thursday, reached a depth of around 6 miles, keeping the threat of a tsunami low.Two additional smaller earthquakes followed the initial tremor: a 5.4 and a 4.7 magnitude quake hit just a few hours later.This earthquake is not out of the ordinary, as it occurred between the Pacific tectonic plate and the Juan de Fuca Plate, causing concern for many Washington and Canadian residents.There have not been any reported injuries from the tremor so far.
