MEAD, Wash. – Firefighters from Spokane County Fire District 9 and other agencies stopped a brush fire that started near the North Spokane Corridor.
According to a spokesperson from Spokane Fire District 9, firefighters were called to a brush fire on North Fairview Road. Upon arrival, crews found an acre-sized brush fire near U.S. Route 395.
Spokane County Fire District 9, with assistance from the Spokane Fire Department, Washington Department of Natural Resources and Spokane County Fire District 4, managed to contain the fire.
Firefighters indicated that crews will remain in the area for approximately an hour to complete mop-up operations. North Fairview Road is expected to be closed for one to two hours, with access limited to local residents only.
